For this project, we wanted to create a cohesive yet elegant backyard landscape that connects the dining and lounging spaces with the swimming pool and play court. A formal style pea gravel pathway was constructed to connect the deck, patio, and pavilion spaces. The line of trees along the pathway serves as an informal boundary between the lounging spaces and the large open lawn and pool. Stone steps with retaining wall planters connect the gravel pathway to the upper level deck, basketball court, and driveway.
The grade was a challenge because the backyard is much lower than the driveway and front of the house. We had to find a way to connect the outdoor spaces in the back to the driveway and garage above.
